Accepted by God

accepted by godThere is a famous song that Billy Graham would play at the end of his crusades which says, “Just as I am, I come, I come.” It helped remind people to come forward and receive Jesus Christ without any reservation. That’s because many people wrongly believe that God will not accept you until you are perfect. I hear many say, “If God only knew all the bad things I have done, He would never accept me.”

That’s not true. God already knows what you’ve done and He says, “Come to Me, just as you are; I WILL accept you, forgive you, and help you to live a new life.”

He gladly welcomes anyone who is willing to come to Him. Jesus declared, “Come unto me, all you that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and you shall find rest for your souls.” Matthew 11:28-29

Rest for your soul.

We all need rest for our souls because life without God can be very stressful and exhausting. For one thing, we all suffer from insecurity. We want everyone to like us and affirm our value. But more often than not, we get hurt by people who criticize us and put us down. We are left feeling used, abused, unloved and rejected.

But God is NOT like that.

He loves you and cares for you like no other. When you seek a personal relationship with Him you will find that He is your best friend – a friend that will always build you up and never put you down. A friend that will accept you and stay loyal to you no matter how many mistakes you make.

God says, “I have chosen you, you have been adopted into my family, you are genuinely loved and accepted in the beloved. It doesn’t matter what others negatively say about you, I will never leave you nor forsake you. Come to Me and discover that my love and mercy will never disappoint you.”

So why not come to Jesus Christ right now? Pray to Him…just as you are, and receive His free gift of salvation and rest.

Are you weary in love?

disapointed by love

Are you weary of being slapped by the waves of broken promises? Weary of trusting in someone only to have that trust returned in an envelope with no return address? Pray and call out to God for renewed strength and power when you are feeling weak and rejected by others who cannot see your true beauty and value. Trust in God who will never disappoint you. He will always be faithful to love you like no other. He wants to give you a wonderful future and hope.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD God. ‘They are plans for good and not for your harm. I love you and want to give you a wonderful future and a hope.” – Jeremiah 29:11

Our heavenly Father gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak (Isaiah 40:29)

Rest & Refreshing

Stressed out? Getting irritable? You need to slow down! Time out!

If God commanded rest at least one day a week it’s because you need it. Get some rest. Better yet, why not take a vacation? Take one day to say “no” to work and “yes” to some rest and refreshment (R&R). Trust God to provide the money. If He provided a double portion of manna on the Sabbath day to the Israelite’s, He will do the same for you.

“Jesus said to His disciples, ‘Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.” – Mark 6:31

“Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it set apart. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath rest to the LORD your God, on which you must not do any work…” – Exodus 20:8-9

Laboring in Vain

tower of babelThe English poet William Henley once wrote, “You are the master of your fate, the captain of your soul.” The fact is, nothing could be further from the truth! God alone, our Creator and heavenly Father, is the true Master of our fate, and the Captain of our soul. Without His divine direction and blessing all of our best laid plans will come to nothing.

“Unless the LORD builds the house, those who build it labor in vain.” – Psalm 127:1

God’s will for our lives has reason and purpose, therefore it is always important for us to discern God’s will through prayer before we move forward in any endeavor – no matter how good the business opportunity may appear. Only when we acknowledge Him in all our ways can He direct our paths and bless the works of our hands.

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own wisdom or understanding. Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take.” – Proverbs 3:5-6

Every desire to succeed and every business plan must be carefully and prayerfully thought out before we take the first step. I have learned to say, “It may be a GOOD idea, but is it a GOD idea?” since I have made many mistakes in the past by rushing head-long into an enterprise before talking to God about it, simply because it seemed to be a “good idea” at the time. If God is not behind your good idea or good plans, “…your strength will be spent in vain. For your land will not yield its produce, and the trees of the land will not bear their fruit.” (Leviticus 26:20).

Remember the Tower of Babel

The multitude of men who built the Tower of Babel were all working under the assumption that it was a “good idea.” Unfortunately, they forgot to check with God, the Master Builder, before they plunged full steam ahead with all their money and hard work. They were more than half-way finished with building the great tower when God showed up and asked, “Where is your building permit?” To their collective amazement, no one had bothered to pull a permit for the illegal construction. All their money and effort was lost and the tower was never finished. At the base of the abandoned and windswept Tower of Babel the following statement is imprinted:

“Blind ambition is a giant step from God and one step closer to catastrophe.”

The value of divine blessing

“For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” – Jeremiah 29:11

Let us always seek God’s blessing in all our business ventures and plans. If God is not acknowledged, we have no reason to expect His blessing, and the best-laid plans fail, unless He crowns them with success.

Some men are so eager upon worldly success that they forget about making God their business partner or share their financial abundance with others. They are continually full of stress and anxiety, which makes their comforts bitter, and their lives a burden. But those who acquire success with God as their CEO, and casting all their care upon Him, will have abundance and success, without uneasiness or vexation. Our care must be to keep ourselves in the love of God; then our way may be easy, and the fruits of our prosperity will be joyful and satisfying.

Act like you’re happy

Reasons to be happyOk, so you don’t feel like smiling? Force yourself to smile! Pretty soon you will be happy again. Remember that FEELINGS FOLLOW ACTIONS. Act like you’re already happy and that will produce happiness. Go about your day with gladness in your heart and a smile on your face.

“For as a man thinks in his heart so is he.” – Proverbs 23:7

Actions will regulate feelings because feelings are under the direct control of the will. By controlling your thoughts and actions you can produce happiness. Happiness doesn’t depend on outward conditions, it depends in inner conditions.

So smile…act like you’re happy right now and you will be!

Giving to the Needy

A lot of people ignore the homeless, but folks rushing past Moses Elder might regret their haste. This week, all people had to do was pay him some attention and he would pay them back with $100.

Moses’ mission was financed by Secret Santa, the same anonymous, wealthy businessman who every year goes around the country handing out $100 bills to random strangers.

This holiday season, in addition to his normal giving, he came to Phoenix, Arizona and recruited a most unlikely homeless elf. He gave Moses about $3,000 with the instruction to give it away to whomever he saw fit.
